Growing up on 25 acres of land in the western suburbs of Minneapolis Greg Lawrence gained an appreciation for independence and self-reliance. This experience helped instill a spirit of entrepreneurship that guides him today.
After graduation from Luther College jobs were scarce so Greg stepped into the world of real estate sales. After a couple of years he found that the sellers were left with the impression that the fee paid was excessive given the amount of work. He soon realized that home sellers who were trying to avoid the high listing commission and sell “By Owner” were unable to compete with the traditional broker marketing tools. Greg thought if these home sellers could have access to the same professional marketing as Realtors wouldn’t they have similar results?
After 6 months of research and planning he installed his first professional 6 foot post For Sale By Owner sign in Maple Grove. By 1995 he added MLS access to his service options. And in 2000 a full service, flat-fee Realtor package was added, for those who want Realtor representation without paying a commission based on selling price.
The results have been impressive. Over 28,000 homes sold with equal success and days on market as the traditional brokers.
After 30 years Home Avenue takes pride in their mission to save sellers and buyers thousands of dollars in commissions.
And this is only the beginning.
